UK: Labour Party secures landslide victory, ending 14 years of conservative rule

The Labour Party has reportedly secured a landslide victory in the UK election, ending 14 years of Conservative rule.

Outgoing Conservative Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, has conceded defeat, announcing he would step down as leader of the Conservative Party.

The BBC reports that Labour leader Keir Starmer would become Prime Minister after meeting the King.

Sunak was quoted saying: “I have heard your anger,” he said in a final Downing Street speech, adding he will step down once a new party leader is found.

Power is of two kinds. One is obtained by the fear of punishment and the other by acts of love. Power based on love is a thousand times more effective and permanent then the one derived from fear of punishment." - Mahatma Gandh
