Sophia Momodu’s Lawyers Accuse Davido Of Harassment Amid Ongoing Custody Case Over Daughter Imade

Punuka Attorneys & Solicitors, counsel to Sophia Momodu in her child custody dispute with Afrobeats singer Davido over their daughter Imade, has accused the artiste of subjecting one of its partners to online harassment following recent court proceedings.
The firm’s reaction comes after a hearing in the custody matter pending before a Lagos court, during which Davido publicly recounted an incident involving Sophia’s lawyer, Mrs Ebelechukwu Egeonu Enedah. The singer later announced that he was withdrawing the case, explaining that he had not sought sole custody but intended to establish a structured co-parenting arrangement.
While addressing the situation on social media, Davido expressed frustration over the courtroom exchanges, stating that although he was confident in his legal standing, the matter became deeply personal when opposing counsel, in his words, “brought out her last card, my deceased son. That’s a no no!”
In a separate post, the singer mistakenly tagged gospel artist Tosin Bee while sharing the name and social media handle of the lawyer, an action that drew significant online attention to her profile.
In response, Punuka Attorneys issued a statement condemning what it described as inflammatory public commentary and attempts to intimidate legal counsel outside the courtroom. The firm maintained that the matter remains strictly within judicial purview.
“Our attention has been drawn to all manner of inflammatory public statements chiefly engineered by a Nigerian Afrobeat artist, via social media, directed at our partner, Mrs. Ebelechukwu Egeonu Enedah, arising from her professional conduct in a custody matter presently pending before a court of competent jurisdiction in Lagos State,” the statement reads.
“That matter is sub judice. It will be decided by the court alone, on evidence and law, and no amount of media commentary will sway that process or our approach to the case. In keeping with the highest professional conduct, no statements on the substance of the case will be issued by us.
“However, if legal practitioners are to be threatened, intimidated, or exposed to harassment outside the courtroom for asking questions, testing evidence, or discharging their professional duty to their clients, then the very foundation of justice is imperiled. The administration of justice depends upon fearless advocacy.
“We call upon the Nigerian Bar Association and lawyers globally to rise up in one voice to condemn this aberration and gross violation of our profession.”
The firm further characterised the situation as involving “threat, intimidation, or exposure to harassment” and called on the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) to address what it described as an attack on professional legal conduct.
The custody matter remains before the court, with both parties having publicly stated their positions, even as the legal process continues.
