NDLEA Arrests Lagos Real Estate Boss Over Alleged International Drug Links
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has arrested a Lagos-based billionaire and prominent real estate mogul, Kolapo Raji, over allegations that he is a key figure in an international drug trafficking syndicate.
The agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, disclosed the development in a statement on Sunday. He said Raji, who serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Trans Fortress Global Resources, was apprehended at his residence in Ikate, Lekki, on Thursday, February 12.
According to the statement, the 57-year-old had been under surveillance since 2025 after being placed on the agency’s watchlist based on intelligence reports. He was arrested shortly after returning to Nigeria from the United Kingdom.
A search conducted at his Safe Court Apartment residence reportedly uncovered four large bags containing parcels of Canadian Loud, a potent strain of cannabis, weighing a total of 89.20 kilograms. Officers also seized a 2024 Toyota Hilux vehicle at the point of arrest.
Babafemi stated that during preliminary questioning, the suspect allegedly admitted to entering the drug trade after initially financing consignments for an associate overseas. He reportedly claimed that substantial profits running into hundreds of millions of naira encouraged him to establish his own independent distribution channel.
The NDLEA said investigations are ongoing as part of its broader efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks operating within and outside Nigeria.
