Ajagba Stops Former IBF Champion Martin In Brutal Fourth-Round Knockout, Calls Out Usyk

Nigerian heavyweight Efe Ajagba stopped former champion Charles Martin in a fourth-round knockout to boost heavyweight title ambitions in Las Vegas.

Nigerian heavyweight contender Efe Ajagba delivered a devastating statement in Las Vegas, overpowering former IBF world champion Charles Martin with a ruthless fourth-round stoppage to further cement his place among the division’s elite.

Ajagba (21-1-1, 15 KOs), who added 15 pounds of muscle during training camp, followed up two knockdowns with three thunderous right hands that forced referee Thomas Taylor to wave off the contest as Martin sagged helplessly against the ropes.

The opening round was closely fought, with Ajagba edging it through his trademark heavy right hands. However, Martin, a former IBF title holder, responded sharply in the second round, landing multiple left hands and displaying superior hand speed against his bulked-up opponent.

But the momentum shifted decisively in the third.

A vicious right hook from Ajagba sent Martin crashing to the canvas. Sensing the finish, the Nigerian pressed forward with a barrage of punches that left the American reeling on the ropes. The assault continued into the fourth round, where a second knockdown paved the way for Ajagba to close the show in emphatic fashion.

The stoppage marks a significant statement victory for Ajagba as he continues to consolidate his position within the top tier of the heavyweight rankings and strengthen his claim for a world title opportunity.

Speaking after the fight, Ajagba made his intentions clear.

“I’m ready to fight anyone in the division,” Ajagba said.
“I’m ranked in the top 10, but no one is saying my name.”

For Martin, the defeat represents another setback in a faltering run, with the former champion now suffering his fourth loss in his last eight outings, further dimming his hopes of re-entering the world title picture.

We are not trapped or locked up in these bones. No, no. We are free to change. And love changes us. And if we can love one another, we can break open the sky.

Power is of two kinds. One is obtained by the fear of punishment and the other by acts of love. Power based on love is a thousand times more effective and permanent then the one derived from fear of punishment." - Mahatma Gandh
