Blessing CEO Responds to Critics, Defends Fundraising for Cancer Treatment
Nigerian influencer, Blessing CEO, has addressed growing criticism from members of the public who are demanding refunds following her recent fundraising appeal for cancer treatment.
The social media personality had earlier revealed in January that she was diagnosed with breast cancer and subsequently sought financial support from the public to fund her surgery. However, her announcement was met with widespread doubt, with some critics questioning the authenticity of her claims.
Speaking in a video that has since gained significant attention online, Blessing explained that her decision to raise funds early was a precautionary step taken before confirming the full cost of the procedure. According to her, the surgery has now been delayed due to the controversy surrounding her appeal, while additional medical tests and post-operative care are expected to increase the overall expenses.
She maintained that seeking support ahead of time was intended to prevent a more urgent financial appeal if her condition worsens.
Responding to calls for proof, Blessing stated that she could not publicly share her medical results due to privacy concerns. She added that even if such information were released, many of her critics may not have the knowledge to properly interpret it.
The influencer also emphasised that donations were entirely voluntary, noting that no one was compelled to contribute. She further pointed to her past acts of philanthropy as part of her justification for seeking support.
In her remarks, she dismissed critics who did not contribute financially, insisting that those who doubted her should simply refrain from donating.
The development continues to generate mixed reactions online, as conversations around transparency, trust, and privacy in public fundraising remain ongoing.
