Fire Breaks Out at Old Terminal of Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos

A fire outbreak has affected the old terminal building of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja, Lagos State, raising concern among airport users and residents in the surrounding area.

The facility, which is currently undergoing renovation, was reportedly engulfed by flames on Monday. Eyewitnesses said smoke billowed from parts of the structure, drawing the attention of workers and travellers within the airport vicinity.

Emergency response teams were swiftly deployed to the scene to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to other sections of the airport complex. Their prompt intervention helped to stabilise the situation, although the extent of the damage remains unclear.

As of the time of filing this report, authorities had yet to confirm the cause of the fire. Officials are expected to conduct a thorough assessment and provide further updates in due course.
