Just In: Dumebi Kachikwu Secures ADC’s Presidential Nomination

Published on

A faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has chosen Dumebi Kachikwu, the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, as the only presidential flagbearer for the 2027 general elections, suggesting that the crisis within the party is not going away anytime soon.

At its National Convention in Abuja, the faction led by Kachikwu made the announcement, widening the rift within the opposition party.

Prior to the general elections in 2027, Dumebi Kachikwu promised in his acceptance speech to spearhead an issue-based campaign focused on inclusive governance, economic recovery, and national unity.

He expressed gratitude to party leaders, delegates, and supporters for their faith in him and described his rise as a national duty as well as a call to service.
Instead of focusing on gaining political power, he believes that leadership should be characterized by accountability and service to the people.

With Dumebi Kachikwu now joining the race as one of the ADC’s presidential candidates, the party officially has two contenders vying for the top position. If ADC truly aims to defeat the opposition party and make a significant impact in the upcoming elections, it is crucial for all members to unite, join hands, and work together as one. Creating factions and divisions will only weaken their chances; unity and collective effort are the keys to a stronger and more formidable opposition.
