Mercy Johnson Okojie Appointed Special Adviser in Edo State

Popular Nollywood actress, Mercy Johnson Okojie, has been appointed Special Adviser on Public Engagement and Advocacy by the Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo.

The announcement was confirmed by Johnson in a statement where she expressed appreciation to the governor for the confidence reposed in her. She described the appointment as both an honour and a responsibility.

“I am deeply honoured and sincerely grateful to His Excellency for the trust and confidence reposed in me,” she said, noting that the role goes beyond holding office and represents a call to serve with intention.

Johnson explained that her mandate is centered on connecting with citizens, listening to their concerns, and advocating with clarity and purpose. She pledged to carry out her duties with humility, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to service.

The actress also affirmed her alignment with the administration’s SHINE Agenda, which focuses on responsive and practical governance as well as sustainable development across Edo State.

Addressing residents, she emphasised that her new role is about amplifying the voices of the people and strengthening civic participation. According to her, the goal is to build greater trust between government and citizens and promote a people-focused approach to governance.

Johnson concluded her statement by thanking supporters for their goodwill, adding that the journey has begun and the work starts immediately.

Her appointment marks a new chapter in her public service career, transitioning from the entertainment industry into active governance and public advocacy within Edo State.
