Nigeria Collaborates with Armenia for Evacuation of Citizens Amid Israel-Iran Conflict

In response to the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran, the Nigerian government is taking proactive measures to ensure the safety of its citizens stranded in both countries. The Federal Government has engaged in diplomatic discussions with Armenia to facilitate the evacuation of Nigerians caught in the turmoil.

Foreign Affairs Minister Yusuf Tuggar addressed concerns regarding the welfare of Nigerian nationals, dismissing claims that they had been abandoned in Iran as “misleading and unfounded.” He reassured citizens that their safety is a top priority for the government.

The Nigerian Embassy in Tehran remains operational, despite challenges posed by ongoing airstrikes and security threats. The embassy has transitioned to remote operations but continues to prioritize the welfare of Nigerians in the region. Minister Tuggar confirmed that efforts are underway to establish a safe evacuation route through Yerevan, the capital of Armenia.

Nigerians in Iran who need assistance are encouraged to reach out to the embassy via emergency contact channels. This initiative underscores Nigeria’s strategic diplomatic partnerships, particularly in volatile regions where traditional evacuation routes may be compromised.

As the situation in the Middle East continues to evolve, Nigeria’s commitment to safeguarding its citizens highlights the importance of international cooperation in crisis management.
