Power Minister Adelabu Assures Nigerians of Imminent Improvement as Government Tackles Gas Supply Constraints

Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu, has stated that the federal government is taking firm and strategic action to resolve ongoing gas supply issues that have continued to hinder electricity generation across the country.

In his Eid-el-Fitr message delivered on Thursday, Adelabu expressed optimism that recent interventions are beginning to yield measurable progress, noting that these efforts are expected to translate into improved power supply in the near term.

According to a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Strategic Communication and Media Relations, Bolaji Tunji, the minister emphasised that practical steps are already underway to deliver a more stable and sustainable electricity system for households, businesses, and industries nationwide.

Adelabu explained that the ongoing reforms introduced by President Bola Tinubu are gradually taking effect, adding that Nigerians will soon begin to experience the tangible outcomes of these initiatives.

He stressed that public confidence and cooperation remain critical to the success of the administration’s broader reform agenda, urging citizens to continue supporting the government’s efforts to transform the power sector.

The minister also highlighted the administration’s push to strengthen Nigeria’s global standing, noting that recent international engagements, including those in the United Kingdom, are expected to unlock new opportunities for investment, deepen bilateral relations, and drive economic growth.

He described these developments as indicators of a new national direction, encouraging Nigerians to remain patient and supportive so that the gains being recorded can be sustained and expanded.

Meanwhile, concerns over electricity generation persist. Earlier in March, the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) attributed the continued drop in power output to ongoing gas supply disruptions affecting several thermal power plants, underscoring the urgency of the government’s interventions.

We are not trapped or locked up in these bones. No, no. We are free to change. And love changes us. And if we can love one another, we can break open the sky.

QUOTES

Power is of two kinds. One is obtained by the fear of punishment and the other by acts of love. Power based on love is a thousand times more effective and permanent then the one derived from fear of punishment." - Mahatma Gandh
