Skales Criticises ‘Delusional’ Cubana Chief Priest Over Jos Killings Comment

Nigerian singer Skales calls Cubana Chief Priest “delusional” after the socialite suggested Jos killings were meant to embarrass President Tinubu.

Nigerian singer Skales has criticised socialite Cubana Chief Priest, describing him as “delusional” over his claim that the recent killings in Jos were intended to embarrass President Bola Tinubu.

The reaction followed a post shared by Cubana Chief Priest on Instagram on Tuesday, in response to the March 29 attack in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North, where suspected gunmen killed over 30 residents and injured several others. In his post, the socialite suggested the timing of the attack was deliberate and politically motivated, sparking widespread backlash.

Responding via his own platform, Skales wrote:
“this guy is delusional … I can’t believe he said that … life’s lost and all you care about is the president being embarrassed… I can’t believe you sat down and wrote this shit.. where is your conscience… you have kids don’t you also @cubana_chiefpriest”

Earlier, Cubana Chief Priest had expressed concern over the violence, referencing a viral video involving a woman and her child.

“I have been cold
In the past few days the video of that woman& her child can’t get out of my head.
When will this killings stop
How do people desire happiness in killing one another.
When will this ever stop?”

He also criticised the response of authorities in Plateau State, stating:

“The Governor in Jos pulled up in a Bunker does it mean everyone should now pull up in bunkers because he is scared more than the people. To lead a state you have to be fearless you have to have the ability to lay your life for the people. I feel for everyone in Jos.”

The socialite went further to allege a political motive behind the attack, adding:

“This was clearly done to embarrass our president on his birthday.
Security agencies should brace up to their task allowing this kind of embarrassment on your principal is embarrassing. I pray God gives President Tinubu the energy to select people capable of leading with him. May the soul of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in Peace.”

The exchange has since generated reactions on social media, with many Nigerians criticizing attempts to link the tragedy to political narratives. The incident has also renewed concerns over insecurity in parts of the country, as calls intensify for more decisive action from security agencies.

Power is of two kinds. One is obtained by the fear of punishment and the other by acts of love. Power based on love is a thousand times more effective and permanent then the one derived from fear of punishment." - Mahatma Gandh
