Simple Reminder
The Blessing You Seek
A rich man once prayed passionately, “Lord, give me opportunities to be a blessing.” Yet one day, a struggling man approached his car asking for help. Instead of seeing a divine opportunity, he saw inconvenience and danger. Fear filled his heart. Concerned that his car might be tampered with, he drove the man away. What he failed to realise was that Heaven had answered his prayer, but not in the way he expected.
Another man prayed earnestly, asking God to visit him personally. One day, a weary cobbler appeared before him, asking only for water to continue his journey. The man ignored him, not knowing that God had chosen to test the sincerity of his heart through a simple act of kindness. Many people expect God only in glorious manifestations while missing Him in the ordinary needs around them.
A young man also prayed constantly for wealth and abundance. Yet when opportunities came for him to sow, support others, or release what little he had in faith, fear took over. He said within himself, “If I give now, I may become hungry.” What he did not understand was that God often gives seed before He gives harvest. The kingdom principle is clear: harvest follows sowing. Many people pray for increase while resisting the very principles that produce increase.
This is why spiritual sensitivity is vital. We must pray for discernment so we do not miss God and His blessings simply because they arrive differently from our expectations. The ways of God’s kingdom are often different from the systems of the world. Sometimes the person you are resisting may be connected to your next season. Sometimes the instruction you are avoiding may carry your breakthrough. Sometimes the act of kindness you consider insignificant may become the doorway to divine favour.
Scripture says, “Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels” (Hebrews 13:2 NKJV).
