UK Tightens Security Ahead Of Tinubu’s Visit To Windsor Castle

UK boosts Windsor security ahead of President Tinubu’s state visit, with airspace restrictions, road closures, and specialist police deployed.

King Charles will host Nigerian President Bola Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu at Windsor Castle on 18–19 March, prompting heightened security across the town.

Thames Valley Police confirmed extensive measures will be in place, including a temporary expansion of the airspace restriction over Windsor.

The exclusion zone, which already exists around the castle, will be extended on 18 March from 07:00 to 23:59 GMT.

Adrian Hall, chief superintendent of Thames Valley Police’s joint operations unit, said:

“The air restrictions form only one part of a robust security operation. Many measures will be visible, others will not. Anyone breaching the restrictions commits a criminal offence under the Air Navigation Order and could be arrested.”

Officers with specialist capabilities will patrol the town, including armed units, mounted police, search teams, and roads policing units.

Neighbourhood officers will carry out unpredictable patrols to deter criminal activity, while CCTV and hostile vehicle mitigation barriers will be deployed to safeguard the event.

“Significant planning has gone into this state visit. We will ensure t by he safety of dignitaries, spectators and the public during this historic occasion,” Hall said

Several road closures and parking restrictions will take effect from 17 March, with some footways and crossings in the town centre closed intermittently to allow a ceremonial procession.

Thames Valley Police urged residents and visitors to remain vigilant, reporting suspicious activity via 101 or, in emergencies, 999.

We are not trapped or locked up in these bones. No, no. We are free to change. And love changes us. And if we can love one another, we can break open the sky.

Power is of two kinds. One is obtained by the fear of punishment and the other by acts of love. Power based on love is a thousand times more effective and permanent then the one derived from fear of punishment." - Mahatma Gandh
