Alex Adams to Empower 1,000 Edo Youths with Free Digital Skills Training
Benin City is set to host a major youth empowerment initiative as the Executive Director of The Hive Network Africa, Alex Adams, announces plans to train over 1,000 young people in Edo State through a free digital skills programme.
The initiative, known as Benin Skill Fest 2026, is aimed at equipping participants with practical skills that can help them earn income and remain competitive in today’s digital economy. With rising demand for digital expertise, the programme seeks to prepare young people for real opportunities beyond traditional employment.
Speaking about the initiative, Adams explained that the focus is on practical learning rather than theory. According to him, young people need skills they can apply immediately to create value, build careers, and become financially independent.
The programme will begin with a Youth Skills Summit on April 24, 2026, at the University of Benin Main Auditorium. This will be followed by a two-week hands-on training session from April 27 to May 8, where participants will receive training in digital marketing, graphic design, web design, cybersecurity, and data analysis, among other areas.
Organisers say the training is structured to ensure that participants gain real, usable skills that can open doors to employment, freelancing, and entrepreneurship. The initiative also reflects the broader goal of The Hive Network Africa to strengthen youth capacity across Africa through accessible and practical training opportunities.
There has already been strong interest from students and young professionals within and outside Edo State, with a large turnout expected.
Registration for the programme is currently ongoing and free for all participants. Interested individuals can register at https://bit.ly/REG-BSF2026/
