Amaechi Joins ADC as Party Office Is Set Ablaze in Rivers Community

Former Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi, has officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), completing his registration in his hometown amid tension following the burning of a party office in the area.

Amaechi registered as a member of the party on Friday morning at Ward 8 in Ubima, located in Rivers State.

The registration took place just hours after unknown persons reportedly set part of the ADC office in the community on fire. Residents said they woke up to an early morning blaze that destroyed sections of the party facility and created panic among people in the area.

Despite the incident, supporters gathered to welcome the former governor as he completed the registration process.

Addressing those present, Amaechi appealed to his supporters to remain calm and avoid any form of violence that could lead to loss of lives.

He stressed that no act of intimidation or destruction would prevent members of the party from meeting or carrying out their political activities within their community.

Amaechi also commended the professionalism of security agencies, including the police and officials of the Department of State Services (DSS), for their response to the situation.

He called on security authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that those responsible for the burning of the ADC office in Ubima are identified and brought to justice.

The incident has heightened concerns about political tension in parts of Rivers State as political alignments and party activities continue to evolve ahead of future elections.
