Apple’s CEO Tim Cook Resigns From Lead Position

A significant change in Apple’s top leadership has been confirmed, with CEO Tim Cook getting ready to step down after 15 years in charge.

The company’s board unanimously decided to replace him with John Ternus, who is currently Apple’s head of hardware engineering. September 1, 2026 is when the change is expected to go into effect.

Cook, who has been in charge of Apple since 2011, will serve until the end of the summer before taking on the role of Executive Chairman.

Ternus will join Apple’s board, and current chairman Arthur Levinson is anticipated to take over as Lead Independent Director as part of the larger leadership changes.

Ternus, 50, started out in Apple’s product design division in 2001 and has worked his way up to become Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering.

The departure of Tim Cook marks a significant transition for Apple, a company that has continually evolved under his leadership. As the tech giant prepares for new leadership, it remains to be seen how this change will shape its future innovations and strategic direction.

While change can bring uncertainty, it also offers opportunities for growth and renewal, ensuring Apple continues to remain at the forefront of the technology industry.
