At 86, Westerhof Dreams Of Reaching 100
Clemens Westerhof, a former manager of the national team, turned 86 yesterday. The “DutchNigerian” celebrated the milestone at his country home in Holland with his wife Lilian, two daughters, and longtime friend Fofana.
Additionally, Westerhof maintained contact with his friends in Nigeria, including Onochie Anibeze, the Weekend Editor of Vanguard Newspapers, with whom he had a conference call.
The man who qualified Nigeria for her first World Cup said, “I am 86 today, I wish to be 100.”
Westerhof’s wife Lilian asked him to wish him a happy birthday during the long video chat.
Nigeria’s most successful national team coach is thought to be Clemens Westerhof.
In truth, nobody truly wants to die; the elderly, like everyone else, simply wish to continue living and experiencing life’s precious moments for as long as they can.
Happy birthday, Westerhof! May your special day be filled with joy and celebration.
