Atiku Abubakar Announces His Final Presidential Bid For 2027
Atiku Abubakar, the former vice president, has declared that the 2027 general election will be his final presidential campaign, ending his long-standing desire to govern Nigeria.
In an interview with Arise TV on Wednesday, he made this claim while discussing his political career, his plans for the future, and the significance of the upcoming election.
According to him, “2027 will be my last attempt. The stakes are higher because I believe it will be my final chance.” He explained that after several attempts at the presidency, he is determined to give it one final push, stressing that his experience over the years has prepared him for the challenge.
A prominent figure in Nigerian politics for many years, Atiku has run for president several times under various platforms but has never been successful. He has continued to be one of the nation’s most reliable opposition leaders in spite of these setbacks.
In the general election of 2023, he ran as the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate but was defeated by the candidate of the ruling party. He has remained involved in opposition politics and national political debates ever since.
It appears that history is about to repeat itself as Atiku Abubakar has made yet another claim that 2027 will be his last shot at the presidency. This is not the first time he has made such a declaration, and his supporters are likely to be both hopeful and skeptical. After all, who can forget the countless times he has promised not to contest again, only to end up reversing his decision and throwing his hat into the ring once more?
This time, however, many will be watching with a mix of curiosity and trepidation, wondering if 2027 will indeed mark the end of his presidential ambitions, or just another chapter in a long and storied saga.
