Desmond Elliot Withdraws From APC Race Over Alleged Threats

Due to alleged intimidation of his supporters, Lagos State lawmaker Desmond Elliot has formally withdrawn from the All Progressives Congress primary election for the Surulere 1 seat in the House of Assembly.

On Wednesday, while the party’s primary was taking place at the Paddington mini stadium on Western Avenue, Elliot declared his withdrawal.

The actor-turned-politician claimed that despite his repeated requests, the electoral officers refused to allow his supporters to enter the polling place.

“And of course, in all zones, they’ve been intimidating and stopping us. I want to officially announce my withdrawal from this particular race. This is my ward. If you go outside, those are my people outside.”

“They’ve not been allowed,” Elliot stated shortly before announcing his withdrawal from the contest.

“Good luck. Thank you, and God bless you,” he told party members after stepping down from the race.

While I wouldn’t say that I am entirely happy with this decision, I believe that after serving three terms, it’s perhaps best to pass the torch to the younger generation. Change is essential for growth, and new perspectives can bring fresh energy and ideas. We wish him all the best in his next pursuit and hope that his future endeavors bring success and fulfillment.

QUOTES

We are not trapped or locked up in these bones. No, no. We are free to change. And love changes us. And if we can love one another, we can break open the sky.

QUOTES

Power is of two kinds. One is obtained by the fear of punishment and the other by acts of love. Power based on love is a thousand times more effective and permanent then the one derived from fear of punishment." - Mahatma Gandh
