“There is no issue with security. People can say whatever they want. I’ve been here for 25 years and I’ve spent probably 23 of them in Lagos. So I don’t think there’s any problem with security. Every year is getting better. Lagos state is getting better at securing and so I think it will be a fantastic time,” Kioupouroglou said.

For example, we have our Santa procession. We have our theater where we present African theatrical performances in a musical style that people have never seen before. We have talent that does spectacular circus performances. We have music, we have entertainment, we have food, everything encapsulated in hospitality in a way that is warm, is personable and it’s family oriented. That’s what the tropical Christmas wonderland is all about at Eko hotels and suites,” he explained.

Kioupouroglou highlighted Lagos’ growing appeal as a festive destination, noting that visitors from abroad now choose the city over typical winter holiday destinations.

“People are coming, both diasporans and also foreigners coming down to Lagos to enjoy what is called Detty December and we are part of it. We are proud to say that we also started this whole Detty December idea. So here we are. Before, people were leaving Lagos, were leaving Nigeria to go to Dubai, to go to London, to go abroad. Now people from abroad are coming to Lagos to enjoy our lifestyle and we are very pleased about that.”
