FG Announces Public Holidays On Wednesday And Thursday For Eid Festivities

To commemorate the celebration of Eid-el-Kabir, the Federal Government has designated Wednesday, May 27, and Thursday, May 28, 2026, as public holidays.

Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the interior minister, made this announcement in a statement released on Monday by Magdalene Ajani, the ministry’s permanent secretary.

The Federal Government’s respect for the faith and spiritual heritage of the millions of Nigerian Muslims celebrating the festival alongside the world’s Islamic community is reflected in the declaration, according to the statement.

“The Federal Government urges all Nigerians to use this period for prayer and sober reflection, asking for divine guidance upon the country as it continues its pursuit of peace, security, and prosperity for every citizen.

“It is in the spirit of brotherhood, shared humanity, and national unity that the Federal Government wishes all Muslims a peaceful, blessed, and joyous celebration,” the statement said.

Wishing you all a wonderful and fulfilling Eid filled with happiness, love, and togetherness. May this festive season bring new hope and countless blessings into your life. Stay safe and enjoy a memorable celebration with your loved ones!
