Brentford manager Keith Andrews has praised young forward Kaye Furo following his impressive first outing in the club’s 1-0 victory over Macclesfield F.C. on Monday night.
Furo, whose father Iyenemi Furo was a former Super Eagles player, made a strong impression in the narrow win. With 20 minutes left to play, the youngster applied pressure on defender Sam Heathcote as he attempted to clear Aaron Hickey’s precise cross. Under pressure, Heathcote turned the ball into his own net, handing Brentford the decisive goal.
Speaking after the match, Andrews commended the forward’s composure and work rate. The Irish manager said he was pleased with how quickly Furo has settled into the team and adapted to training demands. According to Brentford’s official website, Andrews said: “I really like what he is about. Tough game to come into obviously. I thought he did a really good job.”
Furo featured for 72 minutes before being replaced by Burkina Faso international Dango Ouattara as Brentford looked to protect their slim advantage.
The promising attacker joined Brentford from Club Brugge after progressing through the Belgian side’s youth ranks and earning opportunities with the senior squad. Before his move to the Gtech Community Stadium, Furo made five league appearances for Club Brugge, scoring once. He also gained valuable European experience in the UEFA Champions League, where his campaign began with a 3-0 defeat against Arsenal.
