PSG Beat Tottenham On Penalties After Dramatic Two-Goal Comeback In UEFA Super Cup

Tottenham squandered a two-goal lead as PSG fought back to win the UEFA Super Cup on penalties.

Tottenham Hotspur suffered a crushing penalties defeat after surrendering a two-goal lead to Paris Saint-Germain in a thrilling UEFA Super Cup clash.

Spurs took control late in the first half when Micky van de Ven pounced on a rebound after new PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier tipped Joao Palhinha’s effort onto the bar.

Mohammed Kudus almost doubled the lead before the break, heading against the post, but Cristian Romero extended the advantage shortly after the restart with a commanding header in his first match as club captain.

PSG, still shaking off pre-season rust after returning to training only a week ago, struggled to trouble Guglielmo Vicario for most of the game. However, Kang-in Lee’s 85th-minute strike sparked hope for the Champions League holders, and Goncalo Ramos struck deep into stoppage time to level the contest.

The match was decided on penalties, with Van de Ven and Mathys Tel missing for Spurs. Nuno Mendes then blasted home the decisive spot-kick to secure victory for the Parisians, denying new Tottenham manager Thomas Frank a first trophy in charge.
