Seriake Dickson Fires Back at Critics, Insists NDC Is Legally Registered

Former Bayelsa State Governor and Senator representing Bayelsa West, Seriake Dickson has dismissed claims questioning the legality of the National Democratic Coalition, insisting that the group was properly established in line with the law.

Dickson was reacting to allegations in some quarters that the coalition was either unlawfully formed or lacks legal legitimacy. He described the claims as deliberate propaganda aimed at misleading the public and weakening the coalition’s growing political influence.

Speaking with journalists, the former Bayelsa governor said the coalition had fulfilled all legal and procedural requirements required for its registration and operations.

“The National Democratic Coalition has met all legal and procedural requirements for registration,” Dickson said.

He maintained that the coalition remains a credible platform for political engagement and advocacy, urging Nigerians to disregard what he described as false narratives being circulated against the group.

“The public should not believe the falsehoods spread by propagandists. The NDC is duly registered and it is operating within the confines of the law,” he added.

Dickson further alleged that attempts to discredit the coalition are politically driven and designed to create uncertainty ahead of future political realignments.

According to him, the growing attacks against the alliance reflect concerns from political opponents who may be uncomfortable with the emergence of new opposition platforms.

Political observers say the controversy surrounding the coalition highlights wider tensions within Nigeria’s political space as new alliances continue to emerge ahead of future electoral contests.

Despite ongoing criticism from skeptics over its structure and purpose, Dickson’s latest remarks are expected to reassure supporters who view the coalition as a legitimate platform for political participation and national transformation.

QUOTES

Power is of two kinds. One is obtained by the fear of punishment and the other by acts of love. Power based on love is a thousand times more effective and permanent then the one derived from fear of punishment." - Mahatma Gandh
