The Importance of Connection with Christ

In Luke 22:31-32, Jesus tells Peter that Satan wants to sift him like wheat, but He assures him that He has prayed for him, so his faith will not fail.

Despite Peter’s close relationship with Christ and his constant declaration of faith in Him, Satan endeavored to sift him. But JESUS prayed for him. And this is precisely what Jesus does for us today: He intercedes for us (Romans 8:34, Hebrews 7:25), praying that our faith may not fail.

The possibility of losing faith is real. The enemy is like a roaring lion, eager to devour (1 Peter 5:8); he is always looking for ways to weaken our faith. Our faith is a key target for Satan’s attacks, and our relationship with Jesus acts as our fortress. With God on our side, we can stand strong against Satan’s attacks.

Relying solely on our understanding of God’s Word is insufficient; we must also have the Lord’s backing to maintain our confidence in Him. Throughout the Bible, we see the difficulties encountered by figures such as Peter, Elijah, Job, and David, all of whom had one thing in common: they maintained their connection with God even when their faith was challenged, and they were all restored.

When our faith is tried and doubts arise, our connection with Jesus will make all the difference in keeping us steady, strong, and restored. Let’s lean on this truth today. – www.gracevinechapel.org
