Three Individuals Detained Over Fake News About Elumelu’s Divorce

Three individuals have been detained for disseminating a false allegation that Tony Elumelu, the chairman of the UBA Group, and his wife, Awele, have divorced.
Alero Ladipo, the bank’s Group Head of Brand, Marketing, and Corporate Communication, rejected the report as wholly untrue, characterizing it as defamatory and purposefully written to deceive the public and damage Elumelu’s reputation.

The statement claims that security agencies have been informed of the problem and have started looking into the origin of the claim.

UBA confirmed that three suspects linked to the misinformation have already been arrested.

They were identified as Kingsley Akunemeihe (also known as @Directorkem), Chigozie Success Ihebom, and John Surpruchi Nwanorue (also known as @problemchimky).

The investigation is currently ongoing, and authorities have indicated that further developments may include additional arrests as they continue to uncover the full extent of the situation.
