Potential exists in every person, but only a small percentage of people know how to identify and pursue their goals in life. Every goal possesses the inherent ability to propel itself forward, as long as the individual does not hinder God or impede the workings of grace. We are encouraged to commit to the Lord whatever we do, and he will establish our plans (Proverbs 16:3).
The Bible is filled with numerous inspiring examples of individuals who set rather ambitious goals for themselves and accomplished remarkable feats. An example of this is Noah, who through the grace of God rescued his family and a multitude of animals from the catastrophic flood. Joseph demonstrated exceptional leadership in managing the affairs of Egypt and providing for his own family during the famine. Nehemiah played a crucial role in safeguarding the Israelites by fearlessly undertaking the responsibility of reconstructing the protective wall encircling Jerusalem. Paul’s aspirations to establish churches and lead numerous individuals to faith are also truly remarkable.
God has bestowed upon us unique gifts and talents, , and it is His desire for us to utilize them rather than idly sitting by. We must seek guidance from God to uncover the goals, dreams, and plans that are in accordance with His will, and actively pursue them. We must be quiet enough to hear His voice. It is impossible to hear Him until we first learn quietness. God is impressed more with our desire to hearken than with our desire to say something.
As believers, God is the driving force behind both our desires and actions. When God gives us the task to accomplish something, we can be confident that we possess the capability to achieve it.
Heaven never gives ideas to people who do nothing. When God gives us a big audacious goal, we must be dutiful to write it down. Every goal that is written down has many more chances of being realized than one that is not written down. Putting our goals on paper shows that we believe in them. And every time we read it again, our faith grows. There are many things we will never understand about our dreams until we try to write them down. But how should we write them down? In secret messages? No! The scripture teaches us to make it clear. We are to write it in a way that everyone who reads it will understand.
This is hard for people who only care about themselves. If we excessively guard our dreams or goals, they will never materialize. Thoughts and ideas that are concealed in the depths of your mind and never shared with others will never be realized. Something profound happens whenever we put our thoughts in writing or share them with others. If David had not shared his idea with others, he would never have defeated Goliath. (1 Samuel 17: 26-32). We are told too that Joseph shared his dream (Genesis 37:5-10).
We should never allow the fear of people killing or stealing our dreams keep us from freely talking about it. When we are afraid to talk about our dreams, it only shows how little we believe on our dreams. There could be occasions when people react violently and rude to our visions, but none of those should deter us. When our faith in God is intact, we truly have nothing to fear.
May the Almighty God grant us unwavering faith so that we may pursue our goal and accomplish what we have set out to do. Amen!
