UN Chief Warns Of Humanity’s Cost Due To Middle East Crisis

As the conflict continues into its third month, UN Secretary-General António Guterres has voiced renewed concern over the growing humanitarian and geopolitical impact of the ongoing Middle East crisis, cautioning that its effects are being felt globally.

Guterres emphasized the crisis’s wide-ranging effects in a statement released on Friday through his X account, pointing out that it goes well beyond the immediate area.

“The Middle East crisis is in its third month & the whole of humanity is paying the price,” he stated.

“All sides must refrain from actions that could undermine the ceasefire,” he added.

Guterres also stressed the importance of pursuing a lasting solution to the conflict, warning that temporary halts in fighting would not adequately resolve the underlying causes.

“The world needs a peaceful, comprehensive, and durable resolution to the conflict,” he said.
His comments come at a time of rising global concern about the humanitarian impact of the crisis, alongside mounting calls from world leaders and organisations for renewed diplomacy and continued efforts to ease tensions.
