Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen will not feature in Galatasaray S.K.’s upcoming Turkish Süper Lig match against Konyaspor after suffering a knee issue.
The club confirmed that the striker was left out of the matchday squad as a precautionary measure following discomfort in his right knee. Medical staff reportedly advised against taking any risks, opting instead to allow the player time to recover fully.
Head coach Okan Buruk will therefore be without one of his key attackers as the reigning champions shift focus back to domestic competition. The fixture comes shortly after Galatasaray’s impressive 5–2 win in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League play-off in Istanbul.
Club officials emphasised that the decision to rest Osimhen was preventive and that the injury is not believed to be serious.
There is optimism that the 27-year-old will return in time for the decisive second leg against Juventus F.C. on Wednesday, February 25. Osimhen was instrumental in the commanding first-leg performance and is expected to play a central role as Galatasaray aim to secure progression in the competition.
