The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has denied reports of an alleged attack on Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, daughter of former Governor James Ibori and member representing Ethiope Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

In a statement issued on Saturday in Asaba and signed by the state Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo, the party described the claims as false and a product of media sensationalism. It clarified that there was no incident involving the lawmaker during the party’s recent local government congress in Ethiope West Local Government Area.

The party maintained that the congress was conducted peacefully across Delta State, with no record of violence or disruption. It also rejected reports suggesting the emergence of parallel executives, insisting that the exercise strictly followed the party’s constitution and guidelines approved by its National Working Committee.

According to Onojeghuo, the congress was orderly and free of rancour, adding that officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission monitored the process. He stressed that there were no breaches of security that could have resulted in any attack on the federal lawmaker.

The party further commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for fostering unity within its ranks. It stated that the current leadership structure in Delta State is cohesive and inclusive, accommodating both longstanding members and new entrants.

The APC reiterated that there were no parallel congresses anywhere in the state and urged the public to disregard what it described as distorted reports aimed at creating unnecessary tension.
