The Commissioner of Police, Eloho Edwin Okpoziakpo, has carried out an operational assessment of the Financial Malpractices Investigation Unit (FMIU), a specialised arm of the Police Special Fraud Unit tasked with probing failed banks and complex financial crimes across Nigeria.

During the visit, CP Okpoziakpo commended the leadership of the unit, particularly Surajo Salisu Malumfashi, Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the FMIU, for their critical role in safeguarding the integrity of the nation’s financial system. He noted that the unit’s mandate remains central to tackling financial malpractice and restoring public confidence in the banking sector.

The Commissioner further urged officers of the unit to remain focused and committed to the broader vision of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, which seeks to build a world-class police force anchored on professionalism and accountability.

He emphasised the need for officers to uphold the highest standards of integrity, discipline and transparency in the discharge of their duties, while firmly rejecting all forms of corrupt practices.
