Fubara Promises To Deliver On Promises Despite Rivers Guber Withdrawal
Despite recent political developments, Siminalayi Fubara, the governor of Rivers State, has reassured locals that his administration will carry out ongoing infrastructure projects throughout the state.
During an inspection of the ongoing Airport Road Bypass project in Port Harcourt on Friday, the governor reaffirmed his government’s commitment to project delivery and governance.
During the inspection, Fubara stated that the project was approximately 65% complete and would be delivered by October 2026.
“I want to assure our people that notwithstanding the situation of things, one thing that I can promise everyone, is that every good work that we have started, by the special grace of God, will continue and we will complete them. We’re in high spirits. Like, we always say, Rivers First.”
“We’ve always had these issues where the community may want to express their anger or dissatisfaction over some activities of the airport authorities, in the process they always block the airport road,” Fubara stated. “We thought that in this modern society, such actions are not necessary anymore because whenever it happens, it affects the economic activities of the state. So we liaised with the community and created this bypass.”
The governor expressed satisfaction with the speed at which work was being done on the road after being shown around the project site by contractors.
Fubara’s comments were made just one day after Kingsley Chinda was announced by the All Progressives Congress as their candidate for governor of Rivers State in advance of the 2027 elections.
Following the withdrawal of Fubara, businessman Tonye Cole, and other candidates from the APC governorship primary, Chinda emerged uncontested.
There is still ample time for Fubara to fulfill his promises and deliver meaningful progress for Rivers State. His unwavering commitment demonstrates that despite the political shifts, the focus remains on development and service to the people. This is indeed a promising outlook, and supporters can remain hopeful that the best is yet to come.
