Funke Adesiyan Pulls Out Of House Of Representatives Race

Funke Adesiyan, a politician and Nollywood actress, has pulled out of the contest to represent Oyo State’s Ibadan South-East/North-East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

In a letter dated April 24, 2026, Adesiyan informed the chairman of the All Progressives Congress in the Ibadan South-East Local Government Area of her decision.

On Saturday, she posted the letter on her Instagram page.

“This decision is personal, deliberate, and guided by a clear assessment of the broader political landscape, as well as my commitment to long-term value, credibility and purposeful service,” she stated.

“I remain fully appreciative of the confidence reposed in me across different levels and the encouragement received from supporters and stakeholders within and beyond our constituency.”

“At this time, I consider it more important to step back with clarity and focus, while continuing to contribute meaningfully to the progress and development of our people through other strategic avenues,” she said.

Funke also restated her commitment to the progress of Oyo State and Nigeria.

She emphasized that her decision to withdraw is a personal one and asked for respect and understanding from everyone. She kindly requested that her privacy being maintained as she moves forward.
