Funke Akindele, the award-winning filmmaker, has spoken candidly about her personality and how she manages relationships, admitting that she is still learning to strike a healthier balance.
In a recent interview on The Morayo Show, Akindele acknowledged her tendency to cut people off, describing it as something she is not entirely proud of, even though she understands why she does it. She explained that growth has required her to reassess that approach.
She credited Uzee Usman for helping her rethink her perspective. According to her, the actor once advised her to be more accommodating, especially in her role as a leader, rather than shutting people out completely. That conversation, she said, made her pause and reflect.
Akindele described herself as someone who feels deeply and intensely, noting that her personality can sometimes come across as demanding. She recalled her late mother’s advice, which encouraged her to be patient with others and accept that not everyone operates at the same pace or level.
Despite her strong personality, she emphasized that relationships remain important to her. However, she added that she is now more intentional about protecting her mental health as she grows older.
Her remarks come amid recent public attention following an interaction with Toyin Abraham at a film premiere hosted by Iyabo Ojo. During the event, Abraham approached Akindele to greet her, but the gesture appeared to go unacknowledged, drawing reactions from observers.
While the moment sparked conversation online, Akindele’s latest comments suggest a deeper reflection on her personal growth and evolving approach to relationships.
