President Tinubu Appoints Ismael Ahmed as Head of Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Barrister Ismael Ahmed as the Executive Chairman of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGi), a key component of his administration’s efforts to cushion the impact of fuel subsidy removal.
The announcement was made in an official statement on Friday, June 27, 2025, by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to the President.
Ahmed, who previously served as Senior Special Assistant to former President Muhammadu Buhari on the National Social Investment Programme from 2018 to 2022, will now lead and coordinate the operations of the PCNGi.
The initiative is a major pillar of President Tinubu’s palliative strategy, aimed at promoting affordable, cleaner energy solutions for Nigerians. The PCNGi seeks to provide an alternative to traditional fuel by expanding access to compressed natural gas, helping to reduce the financial burden caused by the removal of fuel subsidies.
