Saheed Osupa, a legendary figure in the Nigerian music industry, particularly within the Fuji and Islamic music genres, is widely recognized for his lyrical prowess, charismatic performances, and deep spiritual beliefs.

Saheed Osupa has been open about how spiritual practices play a role in his life. He has often spoken about the importance of faith and spirituality in maintaining his focus and strength.

While performing at the 52nd birthday celebration of veteran Yoruba actor Fatai Odua, aka Laide, on March 30th, he disclosed that he practices voodoo to succeed in life.

He said, “Somebody told me one time to grant an interview, denying that I’m a fetish person, but I told him that I am, and why should I deny it. I didn’t kill anyone with my juju or commit evil with it. I am only looking for how to progress. Nothing more.

“That’s why anytime I wake, I always pay obeisance to my Ifa. I don’t know the deity beyond it, because it is worth paying homage to.

“If I don’t engage in voodoo, what else should I have employed? Is it Phensic or Panadol that will make me successful? It is not good to be poor and still not live a good life. Even if one is not enormously rich, one should enjoy comfort.”

“Everybody practises voodoo. While some hide behind the scenes to do theirs, I do mine in the open. All those talks of mine that I rely solely on the Bible and the Quran are pure lies.”

His spiritual beliefs provide him with mental resilience, helping him to overcome obstacles and maintain focus amid the pressures of fame.
There is a common perception that in the competitive entertainment industry, success often involves unseen spiritual channels.

For Osupa, ‘juju’ is seen as a tool that aligns his destiny with favorable energies, thus opening doors to new opportunities.

Saheed Osupa’s story highlights how traditional spirituality remains a vital part of many Nigerians’ lives, especially those seeking success and personal growth. His reliance on ‘juju’ underscores the cultural importance of spiritual practices in achieving life goals. While talent and hard work are crucial, Osupa’s experience illustrates how spirituality can serve as an additional support system, reinforcing one’s resilience and purpose.

His journey continues to inspire many, demonstrating that cultural beliefs and spiritual practices can be powerful tools in shaping a successful and fulfilled life.
