Residents of the nation’s capital are heading to the polls today to elect chairmen and councillors in the six area councils of the Federal Capital Territory ( FCT ).
Voting is taking place across the FCT as eligible voters cast their ballots to choose local government representatives who will oversee grassroots administration in their respective councils.
Police authorities, alongside other security agencies, have been deployed across the territory to strengthen security and maintain order throughout the exercise. Movement has also been restricted in parts of the FCT to ensure a smooth and hitch-free election process.
Officials have assured residents of adequate security and urged voters to conduct themselves peacefully as the democratic exercise continues.
