Whenever revelation is lacking, struggle becomes inevitable. Not because God has withheld His goodness, but because light has not yet broken through. In God’s Kingdom, it is not effort that changes levels, it is light. Until a man sees, he cannot move rightly. Until understanding comes, even sincere effort can lead to frustration.
Scripture says in Ecclesiastes 10:10 that if the axe is dull and its edge is not sharpened, more strength is required. This is an undeniable truth.
A dull axe does not stop a man from working, but it makes the work far more difficult than it should be. In the same way, when insight is lacking, progress becomes slow and exhausting. Many are increasing effort when they should be seeking insight. They are pushing harder when God is calling them to see deeper. And so life becomes a cycle of labour without satisfaction.
You must understand this: God never designed your life to be sustained by struggle. There is a dimension of grace that only revelation can release. When light comes, it does not just inform you, it empowers you. It shows you what to stop, what to start, and what to sustain. It brings alignment.
In Hosea 4:6, the Bible says, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” Notice it did not say for lack of prayer or lack of effort, but for lack of knowledge. This means a man can be praying and still be perishing if he is not seeing. That is why revelation is not optional in the life of a believer. It is survival.
There are people who are faithful, committed, and consistent, yet they remain stagnant. Not because God is silent, but because they have not positioned themselves to receive understanding. Revelation requires hunger. It requires a heart that is willing to pause and ask, “Lord, what am I missing? Show me what I cannot see.”
When revelation comes, it brings order. Confusion begins to fade. Decisions become clearer. You stop guessing your way through life. The same ground that once resisted you begins to respond. Doors that seemed shut begin to open, not because you forced them, but because you now carry the key of understanding.
There is also a dimension where revelation brings rest. Not the absence of work, but the absence of struggle. You are still active, but there is a calmness within. You are still building, but without confusion. You are still pressing forward, but without fear, because you know you are walking in what has been shown to you.
In Psalm 119:105, the Word says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” This means revelation may not always show you the entire journey at once, but it will always show you the next step. And that is enough. One step of clarity is better than a thousand steps of confusion.
So seek light. Value understanding. Honour moments where God is speaking, even when it calls you to pause. Because in that pause, your axe is being sharpened. And when it is sharpened, you will not just be working harder, you will be working wiser. You will not just be moving, you will be advancing with purpose and undeniable progress.
