Trump Says King Charles Agrees Iran Should Not Have Nuclear Weapons

Trump said at a White House state dinner that King Charles does not want Iran to have a nuclear weapon.

Donald Trump has said that King Charles III agrees with him that Iran must never be allowed to develop a nuclear weapon, making the remark during a state dinner at the White House held in honour of the visiting monarch.

The comments came on the second day of King Charles’ four-day state visit to the United States.

Speaking at the dinner, Trump reiterated his administration’s position that Iran should never acquire nuclear capabilities, adding that military action in the region had already weakened what he described as a hostile opponent. He then suggested that King Charles shared his stance on the matter, saying the monarch agreed “even more” strongly that Iran must not obtain nuclear weapons.

The King did not publicly respond to the remarks and did not address Iran or the nuclear issue in his own comments during the event. As constitutional monarch, he does not speak on behalf of the UK government or comment on foreign policy positions.

Earlier in the visit, King Charles had addressed the United States Congress, where he focused on shared democratic values, international cooperation, and support for Ukraine in its war with Russia. He also cautioned against isolationism and highlighted the importance of global alliances.

The Iran nuclear programme remains a long-standing point of concern for both Washington and London. Both countries have consistently stated that Iran should not be allowed to develop nuclear weapons. However, Iran maintains that its nuclear activities are for peaceful purposes and remain within its rights under international agreements.

QUOTES

Power is of two kinds. One is obtained by the fear of punishment and the other by acts of love. Power based on love is a thousand times more effective and permanent then the one derived from fear of punishment." - Mahatma Gandh
