Bolaji Ogunmola Discusses Expenses Of Producing Films For YouTube

Published on

Bolaji Ogunmola has discussed the financial difficulties filmmakers encounter on YouTube, highlighting the high cost of filmmaking.

Ogunmola pointed out that many people mistakenly think YouTube movies are inexpensive or simple to make in an upcoming episode of The Jay On-Air Podcast.

She clarified that enormous sums of money are spent by filmmakers on production, actors, and other costs.

“YouTube was never designed for films. Film is a very expensive art form,” she said.

Addressing viewers who complain, she added: “You watch and say, ‘Oh, it’s just a room and parlor to make a film,’ but it’s expensive”.

According to her, actors are paid millions for movie roles, with some charging between 4 and 5 million naira for just a few days of work.

“Actors are collecting 4 to 5 million for four days, or at least maybe one or two million,” she revealed.

“If you see anyone making a YouTube film and you’re sitting there saying, ‘What is she doing?’—even the worst film on YouTube cost money to make. Nobody sets out to make a terrible film,” she added.
