Published on

According to seasoned actor Jim Iyke, the biggest issue facing the Nigerian film industry is internal sabotage.

Iyke claimed that the industry is full of saboteurs who are incapable of helping themselves and require therapy in an interview with the BBC pidgin.

“If there is one thing I would love to change about Nollywood, it would be to purge saboteurs from the industry. The industry is full of saboteurs. They can’t help themselves. They need therapy.”

“I showed my son something I was working on, and he looked at me for a second and said, ‘Papa, you are a genius.’ I went to the bathroom, and had a quiet cry”, he said

Jim Iyke’s remarks shed light on the pervasive issue of saboteurs within the Nollywood industry, emphasizing the need for greater unity and resilience among filmmakers and actors.

Addressing these internal challenges is crucial for Nollywood to reach its full potential and continue to thrive on the global stage. By fostering a supportive environment and tackling these obstacles head-on, the industry can overcome setbacks and achieve sustained success.
