Actor Damola Olatunji of Nollywood has responded to the wish of well-known clergyman Apostle Chibuzor to wed off his adopted autistic daughter.
The founder of Omega Power Ministry OPM revealed on his Facebook page that he is looking for a paid husband for his autistic daughter a few weeks after he married off his autistic son.
Sharing a photo of his daughter, who was dressed in a white turtle neck top and a red skirt.
He wrote;
Breaking News….
I am giving out another of my adopted daughters for marriage.
Her name is Chiemeka CHIBUZOR
She has autism.
She is 21 years old.
She can talk and can hear well.
The man who must marry her must be a young man, not old and not disabled in any form.
Lifetime salary, no foreign vacation.
Free house forever.
House built on the name of both of you.
Regular unplanned supervision visits by OPM staff to be sure she is not maltreated.
And many other hidden benefits……”.
Actor Damola Olatunji has criticised Apostle Chibuzor’s plan by saying that;
“This situation has crossed a line and must be addressed seriously. Marriage is a decision that requires full, informed consent from both parties. Rather than pursuing marriage, establishing a proper care home would be a far more appropriate and compassionate solution.
“The key question to ask is: would this person genuinely choose to get married at 21 under normal circumstances, free from any external influence? If the answer is no, then that must be respected unconditionally.
“No one should exploit a vulnerable person’s condition as an opportunity for marriage. People living with autism deserve dignity, protection, and better-structured support systems, not situations that could potentially be manipulative or harmful. There are far more ethical and effective ways to provide care and support for individuals with autism”, he said.
I totally agree with Damola. The appropriate thing to do for the girl is to get her a proper care home.
