Pope Leo’s Unexpected Visit To Algiers Mosque: A Humble Gesture That Surprised Many

Published on

As part of his 11-day tour of Africa, Pope Leo on Monday paid a visit to the Great Mosque of Algiers, also known as the “Mosque of Algeria.”

As a sign of respect, the Pope took off his shoes as soon as he entered the mosque, which has the tallest minaret in the world, according to EWTN Vatican.

According to reports, Pope Leo paused in silent meditation at the mosque while highlighting its spiritual significance.

The Pope was greeted by Mohamed Mamoun al Qasim, the mosque’s rector, who spoke of fraternity.

With space for up to 120,000 worshippers, the Grand Mosque of Algiers is supposedly the third-largest mosque in the world.

Pope Leo’s humble act in visiting the mosque and removing his shoes is truly remarkable, especially coming from someone of his stature. It is rare to see someone of such caliber display this level of humility, setting an example for others to follow.

A man who has demonstrated similar humility is Pastor Enoch Adeboye, whose actions reflect a genuine spirit of respect and modesty. Their humility is truly unmatched and serves as an inspiration to us all.
