One important part of our lives that often gets overlooked because of our daily activities is our service to God. While we pursue our jobs, personal ambitions, and everyday tasks, it’s easy to overlook that true happiness and blessings come from dedicating our lives to serving God.
The Bible clearly shows that our blessings depend on how committed we are to serving God. When we cease to serve, the blessings cease. In Exodus 23:25-26, we learn that serving Him is essential for receiving His blessings. Job 36:11 assures us that those who serve God faithfully will enjoy a life of prosperity and peace. We are reminded in Luke 19:13 that we must work diligently in the Lord’s vineyard, and Psalm 92:14 promises that those who serve Him will continue to flourish, even in old age.
Serving God is not just a temporary task; it is a lifelong commitment that requires our dedication and perseverance.
We are in a time of revival that calls for our active involvement. This is a chance to refocus our hearts, prioritize our relationship with God, and pray earnestly. Remember, it’s not just about the quantity of prayers we send up, but the quality and sincerity of our hearts while serving.
Consider the parable of the Pharisee and the tax-collector in Luke 18:9-14. The Pharisee’s prayer was filled with arrogance, masking his pride with hollow words of thanksgiving. In contrast, the tax-collector approached God with humility, recognizing his need for mercy. How often do we find ourselves like the Pharisee, boasting about our service while lacking true commitment and humility. The connection between our thoughts, words, and actions plays a crucial role in how we serve God. He understands the condition of our hearts, and we can’t deceive Him. True service is not about seeking human validation or applause; it is about humble, sincere acts done in secret, honoring Him with our genuine devotion.
Let us not fall into the trap of seeking admiration like the Pharisees, who focused on external observances while neglecting the deeper aspects of service. It is in the quiet moments of service, when no one is watching, that our true devotion is revealed. The greatest reward for serving God lies not in the fleeting applause of people but in the enduring peace and fulfillment that come from pleasing Him.
Every opportunity to serve God is a privilege. Together, let us commit to a life that not only seeks to honour God but does so through sincere and dedicated service. Let us support one another, uplift each other, and remain steadfast in our commitment. For in serving God, we find our true purpose, our deepest joy, and our greatest fulfillment.
