Burkina Faso Football Federation Appoints Amir Abdou as Stallions Head Coach

Published on

The Burkina Faso Football Federation has named Amir Abdou as the new head coach of the national team, the Stallions, marking what officials describe as the start of a new era built on discipline, ambition and competitive drive.

The 53-year-old Franco-Comorian tactician was selected after what the federation called a thorough and competitive review process. According to the FBF, several candidates were assessed before the final decision was made.

Abdou takes over from Brama Traore, whose time in charge ended following Burkina Faso’s early elimination from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. The disappointing outing led to internal evaluation and calls for renewed direction within the national team setup.

In announcing the appointment, the federation emphasised its commitment to strengthening the technical structure of the team and restoring confidence ahead of upcoming international competitions.

Abdou is expected to bring experience and tactical discipline to the Stallions as they seek to regain momentum on the continental stage.
