Doris Uzoka-Anite has had her ministerial portfolio changed three times within three years under President Bola Tinubu.
Since joining the federal cabinet in 2023, her roles have shifted from a senior ministerial position to junior ministerial assignments, and she has not spent up to two years in any of the positions.
Uzoka-Anite was first appointed in August 2023 as the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment. However, about one year and two months later, she was replaced in that role, with Jumoke Oduwole taking over the ministry.
In October 2024, she was reassigned to the Ministry of Finance as Minister of State for Finance, serving under Wale Edun, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy. At the time, Edun expressed confidence that her appointment would support the government’s economic reforms.
After about one year and four months in that position, she was again moved—this time to the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, where she now serves as Minister of State for Budget and Planning under Atiku Bagudu.
Before joining the federal cabinet, Uzoka-Anite served as Commissioner for Finance and Coordinating Economy in Imo State for about two and a half years.
She is a graduate of the University of Benin and spent about 19 years working in the private sector, particularly in the health and banking industries. Early in her career, she worked briefly as a medical officer at Providence Hospital before moving into banking.
She later joined Zenith Bank as an assistant banking officer and rose through the ranks to become Group Head of Treasury, a role she held until March 2021 before transitioning fully into public service.
